2024 Regular Youth Camp
Our regular Summer Youth Camp will be producing Honk Jr., a musical based on the story of the ugly duckling. Camp dates are June 3-29, with performances on the evening of June 28th and the afternoon and evening of June 29th.
• For ages 8–18.
◦ Limited to 40 students
• Cost: $90 per student ($5 rebate for additional siblings)
◦ Includes script, Thursday snacks, and costume (excluding base layer)
◦ Cast shirts may be purchased at a later date for $15
• Location: Camp classes and performances will all be held at the lower end of the Silverlake Amphitheater, at the bottom of the hill.
• Camp Schedule:
◦ First day is Monday, June 3
◦ Classes will run June 3–21, on Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
◦ First week will include workshops on basic theatre topics.
◦ Fridays will be set build days.
• Performance week (June 24–29):
◦ Honk Jr. will be performing June 28th at 7:00 p.m., and June 29th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
◦ Evening rehearsals will be held on June 24-27 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
◦ June 28th is the opening performance with call time 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
◦ June 29th call time is 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a break and cast party between the two performances.
• Auditions will be held Thursday, May 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with callbacks as needed on Friday, May 17.
◦ Prepare a short monologue or poem to recite and a 1 minute song (bring a backup track if possible).
◦ There will also be a short cold reading at the auditions.
• Parent information meeting will be held in mid-May or early June (date TBD).
2024 Younger Youth Camp
This year, for the first time, we are excited to expand our camp options to include our Younger Youth Camp for children ages 2–7 years old.
What: Younger Youth Camp Classes for students 2-7 years old. Lessons will be structured around theater skills such as movement, improv, dance and more. Each class will have a final performance that will be presented before Honk Jr. in the summer. All students are invited to perform in our final performance. Please note: Parents of children aged 2–5 must remain at or near rehearsals for easy pickup/bathroom breaks.
Where: All classes will take place at Silverlake Amphitheater (at the top of the hill near the bathrooms). We will be under canopies. (The students in Honk Jr. will be at the bottom of the hill, so please make sure you stay/park at the top.)
When:
•2–3 Years Old: Monday & Wednesday 10:15-10:45 a.m.
• 4–5 Years Old: Tuesday & Thursday 10:15-10:45 a.m.
• 6–7 Years Old Option 1: Monday & Wednesday 11:00-11:30 a.m.
• 6–7 Years Old Option 2: Tuesday & Thursday 11:00-11:30 a.m.
• Each class is limited to 15 students. Classes will start on June 3rd and June 4th. Classes will run the entire month of June, ending the last week during the performances of Honk Jr.
• Monday & Wednesday Class Dates: June 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26.
• Tuesday & Thursday Class Dates: June 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27.
Cost: $35 per student. Each student will receive a free ticket to see Honk Jr. after their performance.
Performance: At the end of camp, students will be presenting a final performance before the start of Honk Jr. The performance will be held at Silverlake Amphitheater for all students. Each student who performs will get to sit and watch Honk Jr. for free after their performance. Parents will have to pay to watch Honk Jr. after their child’s performance but will NOT have to pay just to watch their student if they plan on leaving AFTER their student performs. Honk Jr. will be performing June 28th at 7:00 p.m., and June 29th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Below are the times our campers will be performing:
2–3 Year Old Performance: June 29th at 1:40 p.m.
4–5 Year Old Performance: June 29th at 1:45 p.m.
6–7 Year Old Performance, Option 1: June 28th at 6:40 p.m.
6–7 Year Old Performance, Option 2: June 29th at 6:40 p.m.
